Gillinge helps you become a safe driver
Five tips to make you a safer driver this winter!
1. The distance!
Sudden braking and short distances between cars lead to many accidents every year. In winter, braking distances are much longer than in summer. So keep your distance from the car in front – this will minimize the risk of injuring yourself and others!
2. Right or wrong tire?
Dubs or not? There is no correct answer to this eternally contentious question. It’s all about where, how and when you drive. Adapt your choice to your own circumstances!
3. Winter? Again this year!
Yes, it does get winter every year – just as suddenly every time! The snow comes down and destroys visibility, it becomes slippery in curves we can keep up with in good conditions and the windows must be scraped even if you are in a hurry to get to work. Stock up on ice scrapers, engine heaters, winter tires, and anything else you might need – and do it in good time!
4. The speed!
Driving fast is not tough. And it’s not particularly skillful either. Speed limits are set according to optimal summer conditions. Rather than trying to overtake as many people as possible, slow down and be careful. It’s not worth risking your own life and the lives of others to save two minutes on your journey.
5. Search, check up, check off!
Anyone who has ever commuted knows that the weather is not the same in the morning as in the evening. A lovely morning filled with birds chirping, blue skies and seemingly inexhaustible energy can also turn into a nightmare evening of storms, snowy rain and fatigue. Better to check traffic information and weather forecasts before setting off than to be surprised on the way home!
